See New Web Site for More Photos

I've stopped using this blog to post photos because it won't let you upload multiple photos at once -- hence the collages that you frequently see below. Instead, I'm now using Picasaweb, which is part of Google's FREE photo-editing software, Picasa (you can download at www.picasa.com). To see more recent pictures, you can go to: http://picasaweb.google.com/WTilson

Visit to the Nairobi Giraffe Sanctuary

We arrived in Kenya two nights ago after a long but fortunately uneventful flight. Yesterday morning, my mom took Alison horseback riding, then we went to have lunch with Dana, Benjamin and our friends who came on the trip with us, and then all headed over to the Nairobi Giraffe Sanctuary, where we fed and petted the giraffes. Posted by Picasa

Katharine in the Hospital

Poor Katharine woke up yesterday morning throwing up and, after a couple of hours of being unable to keep anything down, Susan and my dad took her to the hospital. She was dehydrated and had a bacterial infection of some sort, so they gave her an IV to rehydrate her and a couple of rounds of antibiotics. She was so brave -- never cried even once!

When we got home last night at 10:30pm, she was up, bouncing off the walls, and telling us what a great day she had (seriously!). My warrior princess!

She's more than fine now -- check out the pics below. Posted by Picasa

Whitney's Olympics

Pretty much every weekend we're in the city, I take the girls out into the park for various sporting activities (aka, Whitney's Olympics). Yesterday was typical -- in 3 1/2 hours, we rode to the North Meadow Recreation Center, went rock climbing (check out the video -- Emily set a record (for her and Alison) of scampering across a 40' wall in 19 seconds), played basketball and baseball; then rode to Lasker Rink for lunch and ice skating; then went home and Emily and Katharine and I took scooters to the playground, where we played frisbee and more baseball, climbed on the monkey bars and Emily did chin-ups for gummy bears. PHEW! This video captures most of the activities: www.youtube.com/watch?v=exqwVvBO5wo

Then we went to our friends the Parrasches for dinner (last 2 pics). Posted by Picasa

Today's Adventures

It was a clear and not-too-cold day so we biked to the south end of the park to meet the Ackmans. Eloise and Lucy just got new bikes and Lucy was trying to ride without training wheels for the first time (and doing a very good job!). Isn't Liza a cutie pie?! Then, we went to the merry-go-round and had lunch at the zoo cafe. A video capturing some of these activities is at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_i84DsMC-U

Tonight, six friends (with seven kids) came over for dinner. Susan cooked a wonderful feast (that's how she spent the afternoon while I took the girls out), we lit the chanukah candles and the kids horsed around a bunch. First Night of Chanukah

Tonight is the first night of Chanukah so we celebrated by lighting candles on FIVE menorahs the girls made (all of them are behind the girls in the first picture) and opening presents. I love the note that Emily posted in the bathroom that she shares with Alison -- "bewhere"! The last picture is what happens when Alison gets the camera when I'm not looking... ;-) Posted by Picasa

More Pics from Trapeze School

My buddy Ken Shubin Stein (in the third row, third picture in, next to me) took a bunch of great pictures from the trapeze school Emily and I went to a couple of weekends ago. Back then, I sent out a link to the video of Emily flying through the air: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wVfJLDLHCQ Posted by Picasa

Alison's Winter Concert

Nightingale's middle and upper school winter concert was last night. Here's a pic of our girls and three of Alison's friends. To see videos of the two songs the 5th graders sang, you can go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1rtMxftYZk and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zJeB6yGHdY Posted by Picasa
