Katharine's 4th Birthday
It was Katharine's 4th birthday yesterday, which we spent in the Berkshires with Susan's family. In the morning, we went kayaking and played on the jungle gym, then some friends and family came over for lunch (capped with a cake, singing Happy Birthday and presents), and then we went tubing and swimming in the afternoon. Katharine had a fabulous day -- and slept very soundly last night!

Katharine's New Bike
Katharine was having much too easy of a time on her tiny bike, so we bought her the next size up bike today as an early birthday present (it's her birthday on the 29th). The new bike is too big for her, but she LOVES it and took right to it. (When we went out riding this afternoon, Emily wanted to ride Katharine's old bike.)

Emily's Gym Class
Emily's gym class had a show last week -- see pics below -- so Alison, Susan and her mom went. That's Emily's teacher in the middle picture.
It was a lost weekend for soccer. On Saturday, Emily's team got whacked 7-1 (only 2-1 when Emily was in the game) and then Alison's team lost 6-0. Then we drove up to the Berkshires and spent Mother's Day up there with Susan's family.

Pics of the Girls
I just got back from a Mon-Fri trip to LA, where I was teaching, hosting the Value Investing Congress and attending Charlie Munger's Wesco annual meeting -- it's nice to be back!
Below are some random pics we took yesterday. That's Emily on the awesome new scooter I got for myself. Yes, that's Katharine imitating me reading the WSJ. And the girls got dressed up for Shabbat services last night...

Quick Trip to the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Meeting
I flew to Omaha this weekend for the Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting -- hitching a ride of my friend's G4 (I could get used to traveling that way!) -- and then surprised Susan and the girls by coming right home on Saturday after the meeting rather than going straight to LA on Sunday to host the Value Investing Congress, as I'd originally planned. When Susan answered the door on Saturday evening and I said, "BOO!", she jumped so high!
