Even More DR Pics

More of the same down here in the DR -- lots of hanging out by the pool and playing at the beach. Alison went with her new friend and her family to Ocean World all day today where she swam with dolphins, petted sea lions, fed sharks (from her hand!), etc. -- I'll send pics once I'm home and can scan them... The wind finally picked up and I was able to take my 2nd kitesurfing lesson today. Did "body dragging", which means flying the kite while being dragged through deep water. Ready to try putting the surfboard on my feet tomorrow -- wish me luck! Flying home Sunday night...

More Pictures from the DR

We continue to have a ball in the DR. We have yet to leave the property -- just nonstop swimming, boogie boarding, playing in the sand, games, etc. Alison and Emily have each found a girl her own age and have made fast friends. All three girls got their hair braided. Yesterday, for Christmas, Santa came ashore on a catamaran and rode a horse around, throwing candy to all -- that's a first for me!

Fun in the Dominican Republic

We're having a ball here in Cabarete (near Puerto Plata in the DR) -- and here are the pics to prove it! We have yet to leave the property -- the kids just LOVE the beach and the pool, so -- guess what?! -- that's where we spend all day!

Alison and Emily are taking tennis lessons every morning at 9am, and I just started kite surfing lessons. Holy cow, what a WILD sport! Cabarete is one of the top kitesurfing spots in the world (a steady, strong wind picks up every afternoon), so there are some amazing guys going off waves, flying 15' in the air, doing spins, barrel rolls, etc. Give me a week and that'll be me... ;-)

Opening Presents

 

We're off to the Domincan Republic tomorrow morning for 11 days with the Singers (you may recall that Fred Singer was the best man in our wedding; he and Julie have two kids around Emily and Katharine's age). Should be fun!

Susan's parents came by on Monday night and we had a yummy dinner Susan cooked and then opened Christmas presents. 

Playing With the Ackmans in the Park

 

Today we hopped on our bikes (I had the jogging stroller for when Katharine gets tired) and met up with Bill and Karen Ackman and their two girls, Eloise and Lucy. We rode our bikes around, played catch and went to the children's zoo in the Park. 

Holiday Lights at the Bronx Zoo

 

We went to the Holiday Lights Festival at the Bronx Zoo last night, which is an amazing sight. We heard carollers, roasted marshmallows and wandered through the beautiful lighted displays. 

 

I recently joined YPO (Young Presidents Organization) and for its holiday event, it booked an entire show of the Big Apple Circus, so we biked over (cold and snow be damned!) and had a great time! 

Sledding in the Park

 

We had our first real snowfall of the year two nights ago, so we went sledding in the Park today. A fine time was had by all! 

Weekend with Fishers & Rottenberg/Feilers

 

The Fishers, our friends from Vermont, came to visit this weekend, and then one Sunday evening we went to visit our friends Linda Rottenberg and Bruce Feiler and their twin girls, Eden and Tybee.
